Friday May 12, 2017 – Wana Decrypt0r (also known as WannaCry or WCRY) is on a rampage. The ransomware variant, which uses the NSA exploit leaked by Shadow Brokers has infected more than 60k systems already.

Hackers were using a tool stolen from the United States government to conduct extensive cyberattacks Friday. According to the New York Times: ‘The attacks are hitting sections of Europe and Asia, severely disrupting Britain’s public health system and wreaking havoc on computers in at least 11 other countries, including Russia.’

WannaCry Ransomware Lock ScreenWana Decryptor ransomware can spread through phishing emails or after visiting a website containing a malicious program.

UPDATES: Monday May 15, 2017

WannaCry ransomware spread to 150 countries and has since slowed down. As of Monday morning, there have been a few reports of new attacks in Asia and Europe but nothing like the devastating attacks on Friday. Over the weekend many organizations had experts come in to prevent new ransomware attacks.
